GRUP MEDIAPRO's virtual production set in Miami has already hosted 17 major productions

These facilities, featuring LED and chroma key tech, are the largest in South Florida

Since the GRUP MEDIAPRO virtual set went into operation in mid-2023 in Miami, a total of 17 major productions have already filmed at the location, including commercials, video clips and a wide range of events. The latest major production to be hosted at the center was the filming of the group Gente de Zona’s new music video, in which the popular Cuban duo perform a 'collaboration' with the late, great Celia Cruz. The set is equipped with technology that made it possible to produce this immersive video that sees the group sharing the stage with the now deceased Cuban artist.

Mediapro US's virtual set in Miami is the largest in South Florida and features a large LED screen measuring 24 meters wide by 7 meters high consisting of over 780 panels. The facilities are equipped with Unreal Engine technology, as well as a 3D creation tool that synchronously combines the real environment with digitally created elements. The recording system allows for exploring new audiovisual frontiers as it offers infinite possibilities for customization and generates immersive environments for every possible type of filming. A simple change of the digital set results in recreating the streets of Panama for the video clip of Farruko's latest song ("Perdóname"), reviving the image of Celia Cruz as well as a number of different scenarios created for CONCACAF productions and Cinema Giants, among other clients.

The facilities are part of a major strategic plan GRUP MEDIAPRO launched to kit out its main production centers with VP technology. In addition to Florida, the group also boasts virtual sets in Miami, Barcelona and Portugal and plans are in the pipeline to open additional facilities in Buenos Aires and New York (1,500m² space north of Manhattan). The large sets combine LED and chroma key technology so clients can shoot each production using the most suitable technology.

On-set virtual production technology facilitates the creative process since an infinite number of scenarios can be recreated in the same space and opens up an infinite range of customizations. This recording system also expediates production tasks by concentrating filming in the same space, thereby avoiding the need to transport equipment and technical material to other locations, which also means between 76% and 80% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to a conventional shoot.

Produced in collaboration with 100 Balas (THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO), it’s a tribute to the legacy of an unforgettable artist

Movistar Plus+ today announced "Lina", the docuseries that pays tribute to the great Lina Morgan, a co-production in association with 100 Balas (THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO). The announcement, which comes on the day commemorating Morgan’s birth, is a tribute to the artist, but also to the woman ahead of her time who struggled to find her place as a performer and as an entrepreneur. "Lina" is directed by Israel del Santo, responsible for series "El Palmar de Troya" and "Lola", which also premiered on Movistar Plus+ and Alejandro Flórez executive produces for 100 Balas (THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO).

But "Lina" is much more than an autobiographical tale. It is a tribute to a singular artist, who changed the way we understand comedy while also breaking records in terms of viewer ratings and audiences. This story is narrated with the support of extensive archive materials, and interviews with experts, biographers, admirers and fellow travelers including Manolo Zarzo, José Sacristán, Bárbara Rey, Lolita, Anabel Alonso, María León and, among others, who will help to shine a light on Morgan’s immense artistic legacy.

Moreover, "Lina" offers viewers a knowing nod and a wink from performers and major names in the world of contemporary comedy and communication, who pay their own particular tribute to Lina Morgan by recreating some of her best-known numbers. Artists of the stature of Silvia Abril, Pablo Chiapella, Pepa Rus, José Mota, Manuela Velasco, Samantha Hudson, Lorena Castell, or a stunning transformation thanks to Joaquín Reyes, will interpret scenes from some of the most iconic characters that Lina brought to life in film, theater and television to remember her and introduce her genius to a whole new generation who didn’t get the chance to enjoy her in life.
