GOL to show "Las cloacas de interior" free-to-air around Spain
Monday at 22:00 sees the channel air the MEDIAPRO production which reveals the dirty tricks at the heart of the Spanish Interior Ministry

Given the interest generated and the audience success on the regional channels TV3, ETB2 and IB3, GOL is set to broadcast “Las cloacas de interior” free-to-air this Monday around Spain. The MEDIAPRO production shines light on the dirty tricks and corrupt practices at the heart of the Spanish Interior Ministry which had previously remained hidden. The channel viewers will get the chance to see a documentary which was 9 months in the making and which features the eye-witness accounts of four policemen who speak for the first time in front of the cameras: Marcelino Martín Blas, the former head of the Internal Affairs Unit of the Police, Jaime Barrado, the Police Chief, the Civil Guard sergeant José Oreja and the top-level civil servant inside the Interior Ministry who wishes to remain anonymous.

“Las cloacas de interior” is a story of corruption and fraudulent activity at the heart of the Interior Ministry with eye-witness accounts. The report, directed by Jaume Roures and produced by Andrea Ferrando and written by Jaume Grau, contains explosive testimony which helps to explain the scope of the network of illegal activity within the ministry.

Proof of the expectation generated by the report are the audience figures after its showing last Tuesday on TV3, making it the most watched non-sporting event in 2017 in Catalonia with TV3 notching up a 30.1% share and 766,000 viewers. It was also the most watched programme on Tuesday on IB3 and on Wednesday on ETB2, except the news bulletins on the Basque regional channel.

The repercussion of the report also reached the social networking sites and last Tuesday the hashtag #CloacasInteriorTV3 was a world-wide Trending Topic over the course of the broadcast and was national trending topic for several hours after the screening. In just two days the report had been watched more than 250,000 times on YouTube with the English subtitled version had generated more than 27,000 views.

Over the course of the broadcast on GOL on Monday (22:00), viewers will be able to interact with the programme via social networking sites with the #LasCloacasDeInterior hashtag.

beIN SPORTS set to provide exclusive UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League coverage from the 2018/2019 season onwards
UEFA renews deal for beIN SPORTS and MEDIAPRO to broadcast UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League games for three more seasons

UEFA has recently adjudicated exclusive broadcast rights to the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League to beIN SPORTS and MEDIAPRO for the 2018/2019, 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons. A 3-year deal which sees the renewal of the rights for both competitions which the channel has been broadcasting since the 2015/2016 season.

In this new rights cycle, UEFA has granted exclusive broadcast rights from the 2018/2019 season awards to beIN SPORTS with the free-to-air match shown on Tuesdays at 20.45 set to disappear from 2018.

But that’s not the change for fans from 2018/2019. Matches will continue to be played on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings but from 2018 onwards two of the group stage matches are set to kick off at 7 in the evening and the other 6 at 9. This new format ensures that two Spanish teams will never play at the same time and fans will be able to enjoy all the matches involving Spanish clubs. Spanish teams would only ever play at the same time, if five clubs qualify for the group stage of the competition.

Interest in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League has increased along with the success of Spanish teams in the two competitions, Spanish teams have won the UEFA Champions League four times with three clubs reaching the quarter-finals every season. In the UEFA Europa League 9 Spanish teams have taken part with Sevilla FC winning on three occasions.

LaLiga, the football competition with the most YouTube subscribers
With more than 1.5 million followers, the LaLiga channel on YouTube, managed by MEDIAPRO, is more popular than other domestic leagues such as the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A

The official LaLiga Santander channel on YouTube, managed by MEDIAPRO, continues to beat online records and once again for yet another season, is the fans’ chosen spot to see the very best LaLiga highlights with all the goals, action and the opinions of both players and managers.

With more than 1.5 million subscribers, LaLiga has quickly become the most popular football league on YouTube ahead of the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A. In just one year, the LaLiga channel has increased its subscribers by 30%, capturing close to 400,000 new fans. Including the clubs, LaLiga is the second most popular league with 7,384,822 subscribers, behind only the NBA with 8,977,116.

The location of the LaLiga YouTube channel also reveals the global phenomenon of Spanish football with 49.46% coming from America, 32.41% from Europe and 12.85% from Asia. The TOP 5 countries by view are Spain, Mexico, Brazil, the USA and India.

Over the course of the 2016/2017 season, LaLiga Santander and LaLiga 1|2|3 content has registered more than 3 billion views, a 29% jump over the previous season. More than 10 billion minutes of viewing, a 31% increase season-on-season.

Among the most watched videos of the season include the highlights of the Real Madrid CF – FC Barcelona (over 5 million views) and the Real Madrid CF LaLiga Santander celebrations (more than 1.6 million views). Innovations this year have seen pre-match warm-ups and post-match LaLiga Santander press conferences live on the channel.

In terms of viewing platforms, the mobile telephone (65%) was more used than the PC (21%), tablet (8%), TV (3%) and video console (1%). The video catalogue continues to grow and the channel now features more than 28,000 videos.

These figures make www.youtube.com/laliga the most popular place online for fans to follow LaLiga, making the channel a huge success as part of the LaLiga and MEDIAPRO’s broadcast rights strategy for the big football competitions.

"Nit i dia" closes out the 2nd season as most-watched programme over the course of the day in Catalonia
The series broadcast on TV3 was the number-one choice on 8 days and was 1.7% over the channel share average

“Nit i dia” closed out the second season with impressive audience figures on TV3. The 17th June saw the broadcast of the last episode of the Mediapro-produced series, become the most watched non-news show in Catalonia with an average of 365,000 viewers (15.1% share). The second most watched episode of the season after the first episode broadcast on the 24th April (16.1% and 411,000 viewers). A break-down episode by episode sees “Nit i dia” as the most-watched programme over 8 days and the second most popular choice in the other five.

The 13 episodes that make up the second season of “Nit i dia” have averaged a 12% share and 309,000 viewers, positioning the series 1.7% over the regional channel’s average share (10.3% over 2017 2017). In the broadcast slot the second season about forensic scientists, TV3 (12%) was the viewers’ number one choice with a 2.4% share advantage over the second most popular programme.

“The Young Pope” will be present at the upcoming Emmy 2017 awards ceremony, the TV Oscars. The series directed by Paolo Sorrentino and co-produced by MEDIAPRO has been nominated in two categories: Best Production Design and Best Photography. The awards ceremony for the 69th edition of the Emmys will take place on the 17th September in the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles and will see the comic Stephen Colbert as master of ceremonies.

“The Young Pope” is the Oscar-winning director for “The Great Beauty” in 2013 Paolo Sorrentino’s TV debut. It also features two-time Oscar nominee actor Jude Law (in the role of Pius the 13th) an international cast including Oscar winner Diane Keaton (Hermana Mary), Silvio Orlando (Cardinal Voiello), Scott Shepherd (Cardinal Dussolier), Cécile de France (Sofia), Javier Cámara (Cardinal Gutiérrez), Ludivine Sagnier (Esther), Tony Bertorelli (Cardinal Caltanissetta) and James Cromwell (Cardinal Michael Spencer). “The Young Pope”, which has earnt praise from international Tv critics, is a Sky, HBO and Canal+ original production, produced by Wildside and co-produced by MEDIAPRO and Haut et Court Tv. The series went on sale in Spain on the 31st March in DVD and Blu-ray.

The Emmys are the most important TV awards in the USA and they are presented annually to the best programmes and actors and actresses of the TV year. The first edition of the awards took place in January 1949 and was organised by the Tv Academy.

The 1st ever Media Base Summer Football Camp a big hit
130 kids between the ages of 6 and 16 took part

Saturday the 15th July saw the first ever Media Base Summer Football Camp come to an end to huge success. More than 130 kids between the ages of 6 and 16 took part in the summer football camp which saw a host of Media Base Sports players and trainers take part.

Sergi Samper, the FC Barcelona midfielder, kicked off the summer camp in the impressive surroundings in Montanyà on Saturday 2nd July and just 24 hours later, Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City manager, spent a day with the kids. The coach took part in a training session and spent timing taking photos with the participants.

Other players who trained with the kids included Pablo Maffeo, Brahim, Juan Cámara, Marc Gual, Lee and the FC Barcelona star Luis Suárez, who spent time with the young players at the Barça training ground in Sant Joan Despí.
