Under the title “Statute, Catalan Nation and the right to decide”, the Public Forum organised a debate on the new political landscape in Catalonia following the ruling on the Statute and the big demonstration against it which took place on 10th July. The event, which took place on Tuesday 27th July at 7 in the evening in the Auditorium in the Imagina building, brought together four people from civil society and the worlds of business, journalism and law.
The participants included Muriel Casals, president of Òmnium; Germà Bel, an Economics professor; Antoni Bassas, TV3 correspondent in Washington, and Francesc de Carreras, a professor of Constitutional Law at the UAB. The debate was chaired by the director of “Público” in Catalonia, Josep Carles Rius.
This is the second edition of this debate format organised by the newspaper “Público” and is part of the objectives laid out by the paper since the launch of its Catalonia section the 23rd April of this year. The idea is to organize debates of this type both in Madrid and Barcelona.
