The most closely fought Formula 1 World Championships ever on the start-line on laSexta

What is tipped to be the most competitive Formula 1 season ever with three Spaniards on the grid Alonso, De la Rosa and Alguersuari gets underway on laSexta next Sunday 14th March with the broadcast of the Bahrain Grand Prix. The channel has put together an unprecedented package for this year’s new season which kicks off with more teams (13), more drivers (26) and more races (19) than ever.

laSexta will bring viewers every minute of every race and for the first time ever in Spain there will be live coverage of Friday’s free practice, the free practice and qualifying on Saturdays as well as the race on Sundays, action that viewers will also be able to follow via the laSexta website

In addition, this year the channel is also offering an extensive race preview programme on Sundays along with a 30-minute review slot prior to Saturday’s qualifying as well as Friday’s free practice sessions, a first in F1 coverage in Spain.

In order to capture all the passion and excitement as well as bringing viewers all the information from each race, laSexta has the best possible team leader at its disposal: Antonio Lobato. The F1 team has also been strengthened by the arrival of a great expert on all things connected with motor racing, Ferrari test pilot and Le Mans 24 hour champion, Marc Gené. Another great new addition this year is the double world rally champion and 2010 Dakar Rally winner, Carlos Sainz. Nira Juanco and Jacobo Vega complete the team’s line-up.

Antonio Lobato will remain at the helm of both the technical and race commentary team to be able to provide the most comprehensive coverage ever of F1 in Spain in addition to bringing viewers all the news from off the track with special reports and interviews with the drivers for the pre-race sections as well as all the excitement of the race itself.

Alongside him will be the season’s big signings and best possible commentators: Marc Gené and Carlos Sainz. Marc Gené, in addition to commenting on the race, will also provide all the insider insight into the race-track, the set-up of the car, and the qualifying strategies bringing viewers the best possible coverage of what has become a true sport of the masses. Carlos Sainz, who completes the team, will bring his experience and knowledge of the motor racing world providing an alternative point of view on the F1 championship.

Nira Juanco will once again be track-side to bring viewers all the news from the pit-lane, getting the views from the drivers and capturing the frenetic activity which characterizes the moments before each race.

Jacobo Vega will also be down on the track providing all the latest news from the teams and drivers as well as being responsible for providing all the info’ on the GP2 Series races.
