The cinema version of “Una relación pornográfica” (Une Liaison pornographique, France 1999) was directed by Fréderic Fonteyne with Nathalie Baye, Sergi López and Paul Pavel starring. A mature man and woman who meet each other via a contact ad agree to have a purely sexual relationship to satisfy a fantasy they share which is never named. In the end, what ends up being a solely pornographic relationship gradually becomes something else, messing up their plans.
Now the theatre adaptation has arrived in Spain starring Pastora Vega and Juan Ribó. A DD& Company Fila 7 co-production to be directed by Manuel González Gil. The script written by Phillippe Blasband for the cinema has been translated and adapted for the theatre by José Ramón Fernández. Alfonso Barajas is responsible for the set and Juan Gómez-Cornejo is in charge of lighting. The music is by Martín Bianchedi and the clothes by María González. Rehearsals start in April with the premiere slated for June in Barcelona.
Pastora Vega
A long and varied film career with notable performances in films such as: “Buenos Aires me mata”, “Ilona llega con la lluvia”, “Un asunto privado”, “Todos los hombres sois iguales”, “Demasiado Corazón”, “Amanece que no es poco” or “El Lute, mañana seré libre”. On TV she has starred in the award-winning series: “Cuéntame”, “Turno de oficio”, “Brigada Central” and “Los Pazos de Ulloa”. She has worked in the theatre under Miguel Narros in “Así que pasen cinco años”, María Ruiz in “Guerrero en casa”, R. Szuchmacher in “Calígula” and Cristina Rota in “Retrato de mujer con sombras y mal dormir”.
Juan Ribó
Began his career at a very early age with works such as “Godspell” and “Equus”, which earnt him a host of awards and critical and audience acclaim. He continued his career working with directors such as José Luis Alonso, José Tamayo and Roberto Villanueva. At the same time he also did work for the cinema and TV, in series such as “El pícaro”, alongside Fernando Fernán Gómez. In 1983 he played “Amadeus”, by Peter Shaffer, to further acclaim. He was later awarded a Fullbright scholarship to further his acting and directing in New York, with Uta Hagen at H.B. Studio. On returning to Spain he worked with some of the country’s most famous directors: José Luis Alonso, Miguel Narros, José Carlos Plaza, José Luis Gómez, José Tamayo, among others. He later sets up her own company to produce “Eclipse Total” by Christopher Hampton, directed by Roberto Villanueva. In later years he has worked in film, TV and theatre simultaneously.
Manuel González Gil
The director of “Una relación pornográfica” is a person of a wide and varied experience with more than 40 plays under his belt in varying roles from author, adapter of scripts, and stage director. His most famous works include “El diario de Adán y Eva”, “Un mundo de Cyranos”, “Las chicas del calendario”, “Por el placer de volver a verla”, “Ángel y Demonio”, “Me duele una mujer”... and many, many more.
